A real Austrian classic! Zweigelt (“TSVYE-gelt”), named after the man who crossed St Laurent and Blaufrankisch, is now the most widely planted red grape in Austria. Fruity like a Blaufränkisch, but round like a St Laurent, Zweigelt has its own unique character of exotic spices and floral notes, namely clove and violet here. By blending with Blaufrankisch, which adds a soft cherry minerality, and oaking it for a year, the wine maker truly outdid himself with this graceful gem.
